Completing this story arc requires navigating a series of unique puzzle doors inside a shadowed fortress. This guide breaks down every step needed to unlock each area and reach the final encounter smoothly.
Bypassing the First Door and Disguise Requirements
Upon entering the portal created by Merlin, you will encounter the first door, which demands that you match the style of The Forgotten. You must equip a crown and wings to gain permission to move forward. If you do not have these items in your wardrobe, clear the nearby Night Thorns to access cardboard versions stored inside wardrobes.
Once equipped, speak with the door again to unlock the path into the next chamber. Taking time to explore the floor in this room can also reveal hidden memories before proceeding.
Cooking for Doorine on the Second Floor
The second door, named Doorine, requires a specific meal to allow passage through the hallway. Near the nearby cooking station, gather Dark Castle Lettuce, Dreamlight Salt, and Thorn Sprout from the surrounding tables. Make sure to leave out the garlic, as adding it will result in an unsuccessful dish.
Combine the three correct ingredients at the cooking pot to prepare a Night Thorn Sprout Salad. Present the dish to Doorine, who will gladly eat it and grant access to the next staircase.
Revealing the Vanished Third Door
Climbing higher into the structure reveals a missing doorway, marked only by glowing graffiti on the wall. Reading the nearby note reveals a clue mentioning a mechanical eye needed to uncover the entrance.
Equip your Royal Camera and align a photo directly at the empty space below the graffiti. Taking the snapshot forces the hidden door to materialize, allowing you to walk right through to the final trial.
Solving the Torch and Key Puzzle
The fourth area features a locked massive door requiring a key hidden inside a frozen well. Search the room and use your pickaxe on the ice blocks to collect four distinct torches: Dawn, Noon, Dusk, and Night. Place these torches on the pedestals around the well in counter-clockwise order starting from Dawn.
Correctly placing all four torches melts the ice and fills the well with water. Switch to your fishing rod and cast into the golden ripple to retrieve the Dark Castle Key. Use the key on the final lock to complete the quest and confront The Forgotten.
